pfSense

PfSense is far friendlier to first and second year students than vyos. We use this to join a students network to the COURSE WAN

  • Store this .iso on your ISO datastore

  • Build the VM, pf is based on FreeBSD 12 or higher

  • default installation

  • last step, pick the shell option

    shutdown -h now

  • power off, remove the CD

  • Snapshot called "Base"

  • The default user/password will be pfsense/pfsense

  • Note, Open VM Tools can be installed later via the package gui
